Val-Brilliant
For last night's concert we drove inland for about an hour to Val-Brilliant, where the church is situated next to a big lake. For such a small town, it was an enormous church. I couldn't get far away enough to get it all in one picture.

You can see the lake behind this statue
Church interior. During the first half of the concert a giant red glass chandelier was casting wierd shadows on our faces, which was a little distracting for us. During intermission they lowered the chandelier to ground level, where it rested directly in front of us in the semicircle made by our music stands. It added a nice decorative touch for the second half.

Fleuve St. Laurent
Yesterday afternoon we went down through town to the river. The shallow part you can see here is just the edge. The real river starts past the islands in the background, and it is something like 25 miles wide. It was windy here and smelled like the beach.
This afternoon it's off to Val-Brilliant for rehearsal and our 2nd concert.

A little tour
Today I went out to explore the campus a little bit. Turns out it's pretty small, just the main building and the apartment buildings for the students. Here's the courtyard behind our building.
Front entrance of our building. My room is on the top floor, far left. I like to think of it as the penthouse. That's not my blue shopping cart by the way.
The main building of the University of Quebec at Rimouski. Standing in front of this building you can look down the hill to the St. Lawrence River.
A freshly planted flowerbed in a park next door.
These two are for you, Thomas.

And this is the view facing away from the river toward the countryside.
All in all, it's a really nice place to stay. We have great views, plenty of rehearsal space, a nice kitchen, and even maid service. We're here for longer than I had thought, until the 26th.
